Dear Patients.
Since Denmark Road Medical Centre joined South Coast Medical Group in April 2023 – alongside welcoming additional patients following the closure of Winton Health Centre – there has been a recognised need for more space to accommodate our growing patient list.
Originally built to support around 4000 patients, the practice gradually expanded to serve approximately 10,000 patients. Today, following the arrival of patients from Winton Health Centre, we are now supporting just under 15,000 patients – making the need for additional space more pressing than ever.
After a period of planning and securing funding from NHS Dorset, we’re pleased to announce that construction work on the extension of Denmark Road Medical Centre is now underway. Once complete, the extension will include:
- A remodelled reception and waiting area
- Four additional consulting rooms
- One additional ground-floor patient toilet
These improvements will enhance your experience with more space, a refreshed environment, and better access to our clinical team. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2026. Once finished, the temporary NHS cabins will be removed, freeing up eight car parking spaces for patient use.
During the Construction Phase
Some occasional noise and disruption is expected. We’ve asked contractors to keep this to a minimum, particularly during clinic hours. We understand this may cause inconvenience, and we greatly appreciate your patience, support, and understanding as we work to improve your medical centre. We also thank our neighbours and local residents for their continued patience throughout this period.
