The new weight management ‘Tirzepatide’ medication (brand name Mounjaro®) will be available on the NHS nationally from 23rd June.
Although approximately 1000 people in Dorset meet the national eligibility criteria, the medication will not be available locally until later this year (expected in Autumn 2025).
Please do not contact your GP or local NHS service about this yet, as we are unable to offer access or support for this treatment in Dorset.

Who’s Eligible?
Once the service becomes available in Dorset (expected Autumn 2025) the first group of eligible patients will be those who:
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 kg/m² or more (or 37.5 kg/m² for people from minority ethnic family backgrounds)
and have at least 4 of the following long-term conditions
- Non-diabetic hyperglycaemia or type 2 diabetes
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Dyslipidaemia
- Established cardiovascular disease
- Obstructive sleep apnoea
