  • Intrauterine devices and coils – both copper and hormone based
  • We also offer Depo Provera injections, please book a telephone appointment if you wish to discuss this further.

If you wish to access these services please book an appointment. You can also access them through Sexual Health Dorset using the link below. The Progesterone only pill is available over the counter at your local pharmacy.

Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception is used for providing safe means of preventing pregnancy following unprotected sexual intercourse or potential contraceptive failure. Tablets can be taken up to 5-days following the episode, but are more effective when take earlier. An emergency copper coil is the most effective method of emergency contraception.

Urgent treatment is available at community pharmacies or our reception teams can assist with an enquiry. You can also access these services through Sexual Health Dorset using the link above.

Menopause

We recently conducted a menopause survey amongst our patients, and we were thrilled to receive nearly 1000 responses. This valuable feedback will help inform our services moving forward.

Our clinical staff have also recently attended Menopause training sessions run by Health Innovation Wessex, to help them upskill in this area.

Cervical Screening

The practice follows the recommended guidelines from the National Cervical Screening Programme. Cervical Screening should be undertaken from the age of 25 with three-yearly checks until the age of 49, and then a check every 5 years between the ages of 50 and 64. Cervical smears can be done during surgery hours, usually by the Practice Nurse.

When you book your appointment, please tell the receptionist that it is for a cervical smear so that enough time can be allocated.
